From our workshop this morning - What was it like to try and talk for a while back to back without eye-contact and other facial expressions?
Just write a few comments here:
Thomas: Today Tracy and I talked about the weather and the Olympic torch. Firstly, Tracy demonstrated his her topic---Weather of Sydney, then I talked about the Olympic torch. Maybe
sometimes (i) I forgot some English words or(i) I (couldn't ) didn't know how to express some special phrase or words, (that let)
Sometimes I
Tracy can't understand me very well sometimes. So i will improve my English aboslutely. I hope my teacher and classmates can help me. Thanks a lot!@
so that meant that Tracy couldn't understand me very well. So I will try to improve my English absolutely.
Tracy: I didn't find today's exercise too difficult because Thomas was not a stranger to me. I did have to listen extra hard because of Thomas's accent, which would have being easier to understand were we talking face to face.
Kathy: I had conversation back to back with Iris at today's class time. I didn't feel any strange because we have known each other. However, I could't stop to look at her face all the time. The reason was that I wasn't familer with that posture. Moreover, I prefer an eye contact conversation rather than back to back one.
Jai Xin: Today I was talking with Joya back-back. My topic was kids and Joya's was food. I was glad because Joya could understand me. I talked to her about how when she has a new baby many things will change in her life. Joya talked to me about India and Bangladeshi food. I didn't understand very well because we were talking back-back. I'd like to talk face-face because I can see their reaction and (through) from their faces I can guess their ideas or other things.
Nataliya:
Kaniz:
Joya: (Today's) Today, Jia Xin's and my conversation was good, not difficult because (i) I know Jia Xin well so (i) I could understand what she said.
I just (thing) think we have to be (awere) aware of our accents and we need listen carefully , speak slowly, and loudly. It was (verry) very good for me.

Thankyou all for your comments so far. This shows you have understood the topic well. Now we just need contributions from Iris, Nataliya, Kaniz and Kathy.
